From cosmopolitan Colombo to Eastern Batticaloa: thirty riders pedal their way through a 4-day journey, in a bid to raise awareness of and campaign for a cause invaluable and greatly in need.

Why You Should Go

Hosted by 'Riders For Charity', the 400 kilometre bike ride will see the riders travel across the country on public roads; kicking off at Hangover Hostels Seeduwa, the ride takes them through bustling precincts, from Seeduwa and Puttalam to Anuradhapura, Giritale and Batticaloa and will afford an upfront glimpse of the isle's Cultural Triangle. With sponsors pitching in for the facilities, the riders will receive air-conditioned accommodation, essential services and access to rest-stops.

A collective pedal in aid of 'Women In Need' (WIN), a charitable organization dedicated to the prevention of violence against women and children. Following a review by the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD) which called for ‘Women In Need’ to transition into a more results-oriented, effective structure, which enables better advocacy and prevention efforts, the need for funds to facilitate the said changes arose. The funds collected will additionally pave the way for a 10-year development plan which will focus on preventing violence occurring in the first place.

As the riders kick off the 2019 edition of the ride, feel free to donate towards a worthy cause and educate in the rising issue of harassment against the unheard.
